A great place to visit.  A great place to stay!

At the foot of the Remutaka Ranges heading north on State Highway 2 is the township of Featherston: your first stop in the beautiful Wairarapa from "over the hill" direction Wellington and well worth a visit no matter which direction you're travelling!

Set in a stunning natural environment, rich in history, with an awesome sense of community and an eclectic mix of things to see and do Featherston is a great place to visit and to live.

Featherston offers specialty shops, a choice of cafes, antique shops, gift shops, a charity shop, pre-loved clothing boutiques, two museums, a petrol station, library, supermarket, pharmacy and medical centre.  There is a community centre, RSA Club, skate park, children's playground, outdoor swimming pool, sports centre, dog park, and historic buildings such as the ANZAC Hall and much more.

Featherston is also an internationally accredited Booktown with a variety of bookshops on the main street and book related events throughout the year.  The biggest of these events is the Booktown Festival held on the second weekend of May each year.  Events will be listed on our EVENTS page as information becomes available.
